We humans are very powerful creatures. Except, to draw from the pool of our human power, we have to be able to gather all our energies and set them as one entity to serve a given goal. This is what some people mean when they say 'focus' or 'concentration'. This is a truth: those who achieve great things are the ones who at a given point in time were able to set their minds and energies in pursuit of one objective, not allowing circumstances or people to take them off course.
However, to remain true to any one objective is not quite so easy, especially today because our world has got just too many distractions. Today's adult owes commitments to family, friends, the society, to self. Then there are the distractions of popular media. But none of these pull people off course as unfavourable situations, like poor results or failure and the things people say or would be saying. Oftentimes, we give up on our pursuits because we have been on it longer than we had expected to.
Now it is wisdom to understand that sometimes when things do not work out, we need to find another way. Maybe you are in the wrong place. Perhaps that goal is not yours to score. It is also wisdom to know that sometimes, you keep pushing, looking for better ways to make it work, rather than giving up altogether. Persistence in dream actualization cannot be overemphasized (I am not the one that is going to bring up that Edison line here). But you have to be sure you are doing what you are designed to do.
So if you know you have strayed somewhat, help yourself and get back in line. How do you do that? First, make an examination of yourself to find out what is most important to you. Define yourself- who and what are you? Be honest. What is most important to you. See, other people or circumstances do not matter when it comes to your dreams. The voice and the power belongs with you alone. Of course you need people to support you, but no one will if you are not sure yourself. People will talk now, but guess what, they also will when you become successful. But the tune will not be the same.
The conclusion is this: heart and head as one, and you will get it right.
